Luk Vervenne is an Internet entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Synergetics nv. Luk is co-founder of Netvision nv (1994, later Ubizen, now Verizon) and BelSign/Globalsign, Europe’s first digital certificate authority (1996). Luk was also the business development manager of STARlab of the Free University of Brussels, and is successful in creating synergies between business and academia, resulting in pragmatic technological innovations.
Over the years he increasingly focused on personal data management either as a board member of the International HR-XML Consortium, the Global European e-learning Industry Group or as a pioneer in the field of personal data ecosystems. He has a long experience in managing in initiating and complex ICT projects, including European framework projects. He currently is a member of the World Economic Forum's 'Rethinking personal data' tiger team and as a core member of the Digital Enlightenment Forum on trust in Europe.

STEVE CAUGHEY - CEO, ARJUNA TECHNOLOGIES LTD (ATL) (NORTH EAST)
Steve is responsible for strategy, corporate development and partnerships. Prior to founding ATL Steve worked as a software engineer and system's architect for a number of telecommunications companies before joining the influential Arjuna research team at Newcastle University in 1990.
His research focused on large scale distribution, object migration and fault tolerance and he was instrumental in commercializing the prototype work of this group by co-founding Arjuna Solutions in 1998. Steve led this start-up company to acquisition, by Bluestone Software, within 12 months of creation.
In 2001, following Bluestone's acquisition by Hewlett-Packard, he formed the HP-Arjuna Labs in Newcastle which gained international acclaim as a Centre of Excellence in the complex domain of transactional and messaging software. In 2002, with the news that HP were disbanding their Middleware Division, Steve co-founded Arjuna Technologies as a vehicle to continue development of Arjuna's software products under license from HP. In 2005, he forged a partnership with JBoss that led to the distribution of Arjuna's Transaction Service as an Open Source component of the JBoss Middleware stack.
Steve holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Queen's University, Belfast, and an M.Sc. in Computing Software and Systems Design from Newcastle University.
DYLAN ROBERTS - CDO, LEEDS CITY COUNCIL (WEST YORKSHIRE)
With more than 28 years' experience under his belt, 15 as a CIO, Dylan Roberts currently holds the position of Chief Digital Officer with an outward focus on delivering better outcomes for the people and City of Leeds.
As part of this Roberts is leading a range of collaborative change programs at a national, regional and city level. This includes the place based Leeds Digital City, Health and Wellbeing Informatics and National Pioneer/Vanguard Informatics Programs. Recent and notable achievements are the development of the Urban Sustainable Development Lab approach to Smart City solutions, the acclaimed Leeds Data Mill and City Open Manifesto, the Ripple open integrated digital care record and the passion and drive for platform based approaches to delivering better outcomes for places whilst delivering significantly more value and innovation from the digital and technology sector.
Dylan sits on the National Information Board and as chair of the Local CIO Council contributes and influences government policy and strategy in terms of its practical implementation across local places. His work in public sector ICT has resulted in him being voted by his peers, across all sectors, into the CIO50 most influential CIOs in the UK list, for which he achieved Number 6 for three years.
JEFF VINING - VICE PRESIDENT, ESCHER GROUP (USA)
Jeff is a seasoned veteran in the government industry. Working for 12 years at Gartner, a world leader in delivering technology insight, as a Research Vice President in the government track, Jeff was focused on merging information about new technologies and presenting the possibilities in a government context. Jeff had previously had over ten years working at various Government Agencies such as the Executive Director of the National Institute of Justice, an Analyst for the U.S. Navy and an Attorney /Investigator for the FBI. All these experiences have introduced him to the world of data from various perspectives. He currently holds the position of Vice President at Escher Group Ltd in the USA and his focus is on governance, stakeholder management and introducing new technologies into an organization.
DR MARK DORNAN - CHAIR OF NHS NEWCASTLE GATESHEAD CCG (NORTH EAST)
Dr Mark Dornan Chairs NHS Newcastle Gateshead CCG (a merger of 3 CCGs and now one of the largest). NHS Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is the statutory health body responsible for the planning and buying (commissioning) of local NHS care and services to meet the needs of the local community. Mark is a GP Partner and trainer in one of the most deprived parts of Gateshead.
